My mother came for the Island Rest Program after her hip surgery and ended up staying for a month. What surprised me most was how quickly she settled. She called me three days in to say she felt more rested than she had in years.
Krit called us proactively when she had a short spell of difficulty sleeping. Small things like that mean everything when you're 3,000 kilometres away.

My father has been living in the Garden Residence for fourteen months. He is 84, very private, and did not want to leave his apartment. After a fall last year, we had no choice but to consider other arrangements.
The staff gave him the time and space he needed to find his own rhythm here. He now attends the cultural evenings regularly. The team seems to genuinely understand what matters to each person.

My grandmother is receiving Coastal Nursing Care following a stroke. The medical coordination has been very thorough β they arranged all the specialist appointments and briefed us fully before and after each one.
I wish communication were a little more frequent, but when we do receive updates they are detailed and honest. The care itself has been consistently attentive and kind.

We moved my father from a large hospital-style care facility in Bangkok to Miroven 18 months ago. The difference in his mood was noticeable within two weeks. He had always loved gardens, and now he spends his mornings outside with his tea.
The meals also made a difference β he had lost interest in eating at the previous facility. At Miroven he has a preference list and the kitchen actually follows it.

My parents both moved to Miroven on the Garden Residence program last October. They were anxious about the transition, having lived independently for fifty years. The admissions team β particularly Krit β took an enormous amount of time to answer their questions directly.
Three months in, my father told me it had been the best decision of the last decade. That said more than any review could.

My mother had a brief Island Rest stay while my husband and I travelled for work. She said she felt looked after without ever feeling watched. That balance matters to her enormously β she is a very independent person.
We're now considering the Garden Residence as a longer-term option. We'd go back without any hesitation.

Case Studies
Journeys We've Been Part Of
These three accounts reflect some of the different paths that bring families to Miroven, and what followed.
The Challenge
A 78-year-old woman recovering from knee replacement surgery was discharged before her family felt she was ready to manage at home alone. She needed a safe, supportive setting for four to six weeks while her mobility returned.
How We Helped
She joined the Island Rest Program. Our team coordinated with her surgeon and physiotherapist on a gentle exercise schedule. Her room overlooked the garden, and she began short morning walks at her own pace within ten days.
The Outcome
After six weeks she returned home β more mobile than expected and, in her daughter's words, "looking five years younger." Her family has since referred two friends to Miroven.
The Challenge
An 82-year-old man with early-stage cognitive decline was living alone in Chiang Mai following his wife's passing. His son, based in Australia, needed an arrangement that could grow alongside his father's changing needs.
How We Helped
He moved into the Garden Residence, where our team developed a structured but flexible daily routine. As his needs grew over the following year, he transitioned to the Coastal Nursing program β without leaving his room or his familiar care team.
The Outcome
His son visits from Australia twice a year and participates in care reviews remotely. He describes the transition as "handled with so much care that my father barely noticed it happening."
The Challenge
A family approached Miroven seeking a setting where their mother could live out her remaining months with comfort and dignity. She had expressed a clear wish to avoid hospital admission. She was 91 and had advanced lung disease.
How We Helped
She received Coastal Nursing Care focused entirely on comfort and quality of life. Her room opened onto the garden. Her family flew in to stay nearby for the final weeks and were part of every conversation with the care team.
The Outcome
She passed peacefully with her family present. Her daughter later wrote to thank the team β she said her mother had described Miroven, in her last weeks, as the kindest place she had ever lived.
